Somalia’s Puntland police arrest two Moroccan and Syrian ISIS operatives

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Police in northeastern Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland said they had arrested two Moroccan and Syrian operatives with the Islamic State group in a security operation in the town of Ufeyn, Caasimada Online news website reported on Saturday.

The duo identified as Hassan Ibnu Mohamed from Morocco and Mohamed ibnu Mohamed Ahmed, a Syrian national, where detained as they were heading to the group’s mountainous strongholds in the region.

Authorities say they have arrested a number of other foreign nationals traveling to the group’s mountainous hideouts in Bari region over the past weeks.
