MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Friday visited camp housing troops in charge of security in the capital Mogadishu as authorities try to prevent attacks from militants, his office said.

The Premier toured Hiilwayne base in the northern outskirts of Mogadishu which houses thousands of military police officers operating in hundreds of checkpoints in the city.

The visit was aimed at encouraging the troops and assessing their needs to further tighten security in the city, days after a suicide bomber attacked a military academy in the Somali capital.
