Somalia’s ex-PM Omar Abdirashid calls for vigilance against possible Ethiopian invasion

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali has called for increased vigilance against a possible Ethiopian invasion after Addis Ababa’s sea access deal with Somaliland angered Mogadishu earlier this month.

In an interview with one of the local Somali media outlets, the former Premier called on Somali people to be ready to defend their country in case of an Ethiopian invasion aimed at annexing parts of the country’s north.

“Abiy, as Addis Ababa is on the brink of falling to rebels, continues to divide and separate Somalia,” Omar said.

“I believe that we should not play down his threats and he may have multiple options on the table, including ordering an invasion.”
