Somalia’s president reshuffles army leadership after setbacks in offensive against militants

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday reshuffled the leadership of the army following setbacks in more than a year-long offensive against the Al-Qaeda-linked militant group Al-Shabaab.

Mohamud appointed Mudey Nurey Sheikh as the new deputy commander of the Somali army and Dayah Abdi Abdulle as the commander of Land Forces, replacing Brigadier General Ahmed Adan Ali who was named to the post in June.
