MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday convened a meeting with former leaders to discuss issues, including the current security situation of the country, review of the constitution and fight against militants, his office said.
The two-day meeting is set to focus on efforts to solve differences over a recent controversial agreement signed by the leaders of the federal government and regional states, which proposed the abolition of the country’s premiership system and the extension of president’s term in office.
Images circulated online by the president’s office showed that former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire and a number of other ex-leaders attended the conference.
