MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somaliland troops engaged in renewed clashes with forces of the neighboring Sool, Sanaag and Cayn (SSC) administration in a disputed border village on Wednesday, Caasimada Online news website reported.
The gun battle erupted weeks after SSC forces seized the area, claiming to have captured military vehicles and prisoners of war.
A buildup of forces has continued in the border between the break-away region and SSC, which was recognized by the Somali federal government as the country’s 6th regional state, since Somaliland lost control of Lasanod and neighboring towns.
Casualties have been reported, but the exact figure has not been immediately known.
