MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Authorities of northern Somalia’s Sool, Sanaag and Cayn regions (SSC) on Wednesday claimed capturing a number of prisoners of war and military vehicles in renewed gun battles with Somaliland troops.

The fighting erupted in Yeyle village in Togdheer region where regional traditional leaders had launched an awareness campaign aimed at bringing an end to ongoing clashes between clans cohabiting in rural areas in the region, SSC said in a statement.

Somaliland troops, implementing a call to fighting made by the break-away region’s speaker of the House of Elders Saleban Mohamud Adan, attacked the village on Wednesday, it added.

SSC called on Somalia’s federal government and the international community to take action against what it called an aggression by Somaliland, promising that it will act in accordance with the international law.
