MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least two civilians were killed and several wounded after Kenyan military carried out an air strike in El Adde town in south Somalia’s Gedo region on Wednesday.
Four missiles fired by a Kenyan warplane hit a house in the town on Wednesday evening, killing two people, residents told media.
The town targeted by the attack is under the control of Al-Shabaab armed group which seized it following an attack on Kenyan military base in 2016, which had left at least 200 soldiers dead.
Kenya on Wednesday announced it would delay a planned reopening of the border with Somalia due to increased attacks by Islamist militants inside its the Coast and North East regions.
The Kenyan military has carried out at least three air strikes in south Somalia in just a few weeks, mainly targeting residential areas and headquarters of telecommunication companies. Somali officials earlier warned that repeated targeting of civilians by Kenyan air raids could further fill the ranks of the group.
