Somalia Sees Resurgence of Coronavirus Cases

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia sees resurgence of Coronavirus cases after the Ministry of Health reported 52 new infections on Sunday.

Somali Minister of Health Fowsia Abikar Nour told media that 52 new COVID19 cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours.

Four of the cases were recorded in Somaliland, 40 in Puntland, 3 in Banadir region and 5 in Jubaland, the Minister said.

The number of infections in the country has risen to 3, 362. The new cases – the highest to have been recorded in a single day in recent weeks – show resurgence of the virus in Somalia after the country saw more than a month of respite.

Minister of Health pointed out that the number of recoveries increased to 2, 738 after 159 new people recovered from coronavirus.
