MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Mayor of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu Omar Mohamud Mohamed (Filish) said he had survived several assassination attempts since being appointed to office and security forces arrested people who were planning to carry out attacks inside the municipality.
Speaking at a prayer ceremony held for the late mayor of the capital, Abdirahman Yarisow – who had been killed in a suicide bombing claimed by the militant group Al-Shabaab – Omar Filish noted that he pushed through reforms in the municipality and purchased equipment used to avert possibility of similar attacks.
A director at the municipality of the capital Mogadishu had staged the attack that resulted in the death of the late mayor, Omar Filish added, without providing further details.
