MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said on Sunday his government will defend Somalia from external threatens to its security, including attempts by Ethiopia to annex parts of the country’s northern break-away region of Somaliland.
“Egypt stands resolute in its commitment to Somalia’s security. No external actor will be allowed to threaten the Somali people or jeopardize their safety,” el-Sisi said during a press conference with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
“We are unwavering in our support for our brethren [Somalia], and If they call upon us, we will not hesitate to act.”
