American Soldier Wounded in a Militant Attack in Southern Somalia

US Soldier

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – An American soldier was reportedly wounded on Tuesday in a series of explosion attacks as US-led operation is underway to retake a small agricultural village in the Somalia region of the Lower Shabelle.

The soldier was part of a military convoy that came under attack on the outskirts of Darusalam village.

At least 7 US-trained Somali soldiers were killed in the attacks as reported by some local media outlets, but the Somali Army has not yet commented on casualties caused by the explosions.

The attacks have come nearly 3 years after Kyle Milliken, a 38-year-old senior US chief special warfare operator was killed in a militant ambush in the same vicinity.

Local media reported that senior US-trained military official identified as Abdulahi Ali Galmah and his bodyguards were among the dead following an explosion attack on the road linking Mubarak and Darusalam villages in the Lower Shabelle region.
