Police Killing of DC in Somalia’s Capital Was ‘Intentional’ Act, Says Prosecutor

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Police killing of a district commissioner Abdihakim Dhagojun in January was an “intentional act”, a prosecutor said on Sunday following a three month-long investigation.

The prosecutor of the Somali military court Abdullahi Bulo Kamey acknowledged for the first time that the killing was planned by senior police commanders, though the motive behind it has not yet been revealed.

A number of police officers including commanders charged with the murder are currently being held at a jail in the capital, Mogadishu and a list of their names will soon be announced, according to Mr Kamey’s remarks.

Mogadishu-based Somali military court is due to begin hearings into the death of Hodan district commissioner Abdihakim Dhagojun, who was killed in a shootout in the capital on January 21, in what his relatives described as planned assassination.
