MOGADISHU (somaliguardian) – Gunmen suspected to be members of Al-Shabaab militants have attacked a hotel in the Somali capital, Mogadishu on Sunday afternoon.
Reports from the city say gunmen used at least one car bomb to blast their way into Elite Hotel on Liido beach before storming the building.
Shooting is currently ongoing inside the hotel with intense gunfire heard across the area.
More than 10 people are said to have died in the attack including government officials.
Minister of public works Ahmed Washington is among the wounded. Former Director of Tourism for the Ministry of Information is said to be among the dead, according to security officials.
