MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least two people wounded after mortar shells landed on Adan Adde International Airport in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Saturday morning, Caasimada Online news website reported.

The mortar attack targeted the airport and the nearby Halane base, which is home to several diplomatic missions, including those of the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Nations.

Somalia’s security officials have not yet discussed the details of the assault, which briefly disrupted operations of the airport.

Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate which often carries out attacks in Mogadishu and elsewhere in Somalia, claimed responsibility for the attack.
