MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s army chief Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin has said it appears that troops from Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya are not yet prepared to take part in the second phase of military operations against Al-Shabaab militants.
“There is a preparation before an operation, I don’t see the preparation,” Muhyadin said. “We are waiting for them but I don’t see they can be part of what we are working on now, considering their preparation,” he added.
The remarks come amid military mobilization in central Somalia where clan militias and Somalia’s army making preparations for a new showdown with the militants, in what President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said is aimed at completing the first phase of an offensive against insurgents.
