MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Puntland regional troops are battling ISIS fighters for control of parts of Al-Miskad mountain in Somalia’s Bari region, local authorities said on Saturday.
Local officials claimed that the militants suffered heavy blows in three days of fighting in the area and that troops advanced into key hideouts for the group.
Residents have begun to flee from their neighborhoods as clashes intensified on Friday and casualties on both sides have not been immediately known.
Dozens of military vehicles rushing with reinforcements were spotted in the coastal town of Bosaso, heading east.
