Somalia: Al-Shabaab Claims Killing Two Jubaland Officials

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Two Jubaland officials were captured in an overnight raid carried out by Al-Qaeda-aligned militant group Al-Shabaab in southern Somalia, militants claimed on Tuesday.

Attackers entered a house in the town of Kudha in the Lower Juba region where the small town’s deputy mayor was staying and took him away without any reported clashes.

Heavily armed militants also stormed the house of commander of Jubaland forces based in the town and also took him to an undisclosed area outside the town.

Jubaland authorities have not immediately commented on the raid, which comes after militants increased attacks in south and central Somalia.

Militants are said to have killed the officials and left their bodies outside the town in restive south Somalia.
