MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The leader of Somalia’s Upper House of Parliament Abdi Hashi Abdillahi on Thursday accused the current acting president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo of clinging to power, months after his term ended and said the prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, who had been assigned with the management of upcoming elections, is biased.

Speaking to a crowd of his supporters in Mogadishu, the seasoned politician said the prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble had taken sides in a dispute between him and the deputy prime minister Khadar Guled – a key ally of the outgoing president – over the way a vote for the candidates vying for parliamentary seats allocated for the breakaway state of Somaliland would be conducted
He added that Roble is biased in favor of the other wing, which is allied with the outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
Senate leader Abdi Hashi and Farmajo’s allies have been locked in a bitter dispute over the management of the electoral process in which the members of parliament is set to be chosen. He informed his supporters that the prime minister threatened to kick out four members of an 11-member committee he had picked, who are expected to conduct the vote as the parties earlier agreed.
Abdi Hashi notes that Somalia’s outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has not complied fully with the national constitution since he came to power and strives to subjugate his critics by arm-twisting and spreading lies about them using public media.
Somalia’s government has not immediately commented on the claims, which come as the country’s presidential election nears.
