MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Former ONLF commander Abdikarim Muse Qalbidhagah said Somalia president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo “had the prime responsibility for his capture and extradition to Ethiopia” in late August 2017.

In an interview with Somali journalist Ayanle Hussein Abdi, mr Qalbidhagah accused the Somali president of handing him over to Ethiopia where he faced torture and other tormenting abuses.

The former commander of the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), a grassroots movement that unsuccessfully campaigned for the right to self-determination for Somalis in the Somali region of Ethiopia, had been captured in late August 2017 by Galmudug regional troops, followed by his immediate extradition to Ethiopia.

When asked about Hassan Ali Khaire’s run for Somalia president since the man was prime minister at the time of his extradition to Ethiopia, Qalbidhagah asserted the president had the prime responsibility for the incident and Khaire has right to attend race to presidency.

As he continued to speak, the former ONLF commander called on the former prime minister to inform the Somali public about his role in the extradition of a Somali citizen to Ethiopian authorities and also welcomed Khaire’s apology to Abdirahman Abdishakur over police raid on the politician’s home that left 5 people dead and over half a million USD lost.
