MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) –Acting district commissioner of Somalia’s Wanlawayn town Mohamed Abdullahi Omar has been shot dead inside his home on Sunday evening by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.
Local police officials who spoke to media said unidentified group of men managed to enter the home of the acting district commissioner where they have killed him.
Witnesses said the attackers threw a grenade at the house in which 5 people wounded, some of whom sustaining serious injuries.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Wanlawayn has recently been a hostile environment as clashes between clans vying for its control forced residents to flee their homes.
